We went to Tatton Park in Knutsford, Cheshire and what a fabulous time we had!
Tatton Park currently has a Roald Dahl Event on celebrating “100 years of Roald Dahl”. There is lots going on in all the different areas of the park and we couldn’t wait to go and check it out!
Both girls, Tilly (Age 7) and Orla (Age 3) are huge fans of Matilda so they couldn’t wait to get to Tatton and visit the mansion, which was filled with Matilda stuff.
There was even a ‘chokey’ for them to try out and a classroom so they can see if they are smart little cookies like Matilda. They even got to dress up in Matilda’s school uniform.
On leaving the mansion we were greeted by the BFG himself! He was HUGE!!
We then headed onto the gardens to visit “Danny, the Champion of the World”. The gardens were beautiful and huge, we could have spent hours in there, there was so much to see and do. This turned out to be the girl’s favourite part of the event. There was an outdoor obstacle course, themed with Danny memorabilia. Even though Tilly and Orla haven’t read the book, they still loved the pictures.
Also within the gardens there were snippets from a few of the other books like “James and the Giant Peach”. Tilly decided to go inside the giant peach stone (yuck!).
We then met “The Twits” and had to pull some ugly “Twit” faces!
Sadly, we didn’t have time to see any more and had to head home but we will certainly be going back again! We still have yet to visit “The Fantastic Mr Fox” at the Farm and “The Enormous Crocodile” in the Parkland!
We think that the Roald Dahl experience at Tatton Park is definitely worth a visit and we would highly recommend it.
